Why Blend in When you were Born to Stand out?
It sometimes takes courage to stand out from the crowd, to be bold, to make your voice heard. This painting, reminiscent of a sound wave, is a reminder that one voice may be heard amongst many others. That one voice can make a difference. It also represents that individuality is important and should be celebrated. Standing out, being unique and individual is what makes each of us so interesting.
This piece was created by layering the paint down the centre of the canvas and dragging it slowly across the surface of the fluid paint background and gradually lifting away to allow the colours to gently fade. It is due to this fading that the technique is named a ‘ghost swipe’. Notice the one ‘individual’ which stands bold and strong next to the others in the crowd.
Original, acrylics on deep canvas, finished with high gloss varnish.
