Autumn Cascade

Autumn Cascade

Original, acrylics and mixed media on canvas.

A stunning, abstract tribute to Autumn, this artwork has been on a journey. Originally ‘Autumn Cascade’ was designed as a Dutch pour, by layering the fluid paints and blowing them out with a hairdryer. The deep forest green background provides contrast to the cascade of autumnal golds and coppers.

Many months later the artist was visited with new inspiration and added embellishments, adorning the casade with iridescent crushed glass, and using a combination of prints and brushwork to create the leaves and grasses. The leaves appear to be falling, adding to the 'cascade' theme of the artwork.

The sequences of dots were  added at the time of the initial paint pour to give additional interest to the piece, and they now serve to draw the eye towards the outer details. The later additions brought the artwork to life even more and now it sings of Autumn.

Varnished with high gloss varnish to enhance the metallic and iridescent pigments.
